Dear Members,
With the temporada well underway, many of you will be heading to Malaga and Sevilla for this weekend’s Semana Santa corridas. Eagle-eyed members watching the en solitario with Alavaro Lorenzo in Toledo last Saturday, would have seen his brindis to his cousin and CTL member Carlos Lorenzo. Alvaro’s sword work let him down a little but an otherwise very solid and enjoyable performance.
We have had a number of requests for face-to-face meetings in London and are working on some ideas and intend to announce something reasonably soon.
Club meeting, 9th April
Our speaker is CTL member and regular La Divisa contributor John Gordon, who will talk about “Refreshing the Escalafón” and will use the carteles of the most important forthcoming ferias to illustrate his point. John has an encyclopaedic knowledge of tauromaquia and the topic he has chosen for next week’s meeting should be of interest for both seasoned and less experienced aficionados.
Ganaderia visit Sevilla 22nd April
Mark Rayner has arranged a visit to a nearby ganaderia over lunch on Wednesday 22nd April. All members are welcome and should register their attendance with Mark (markctol@gmail.com) and copy me (secretarygeneralctol@gmail.com). It is sure to be a most informative and enjoyable day.
Sevilla lunch 24th April
There will be an informal lunch at the Donald (next door to Hotel Colón) on 24th April. As usual the total cost of the lunch will be shared equally by the guests, those wishing to attend should reserve their place with Mark Rayner and copy me (as above)
Madrid lunch 29th May
The club will hold its annual San Isidro lunch at The Hotel Wellington on Friday 29th May. Our guest and cost will be announced later but in the meantime, members are requested to reserve their place directly with Mark Rayner and copy to me.
AGM notice
We intend to hold our Annual General Meeting on the evening of Monday 15th June in London. Those members wishing to attend are requested to register with me ASAP, when we have an idea of numbers we will arrange a suitable venue.
Regards,
Anthony
