Dear Members,

Great to see so many of you at San Miguel where we had a most convivial if not rather chaotic lunch. I dare say that following two disappointing evenings in La Maestranza some of you will be looking forward to Las Ventas later this month.

CTL Autumn lunch in Madrid

Interest in the CTL’s Autumn lunch in Madrid (Casa Salvador, Calle Barbieri nº 12 on Saturday 11th October) has been high. Our private room is now full. Andrew has started a waiting list, in case of any cancellations.

October Zoom meeting, 16th October

I am delighted to announce that the speaker at the CToL's October meeting will be Alex Paul. Alex, a 18 year-old from England, is a CToL member and is currently training at the Escuela Taurina de Madrid. Recently Alex made his debut in a "clase práctica" in Pozuelo del Rey, cutting two ears to novillos from Hnas. Ortega (photo attached).

Alex appeared on the pages of La Divisa number 280 telling us the story of his fascination for tauromaquia since his arrival in Spain as a child. You will have the opportunity to hear more about Alex's amazing dream and his clase practica debut on October the 16th at 7:30 PM BST on Zoom- please note that, exceptionally this month, this is a week later than the usual 2nd week of the month.

Ruoheng Li - Artist

One of our newer artist members Ruoheng Li, who goes by the name of Fifi, has put together a biography of her work, attached herewith. I asked her to do this as I thought some of you would be interested in her work.  She can be contacted on our WhatsApp group or alternatively email me and I will connect you by email.

November lunch

Booking forms will be sent via email very shortly. As usual the lunch will take place at the prestigious Oriental Club in Stratford Place, London on Sunday 30th November. Our guest of honour will be the matador Borja Jiménez, the cost per person for the three course meal with wine will be £90.

Club’s PO Box

It has been decided to discontinue our Post Office box facility with immediate effect.  It was a costly thing to provide just to receive one or two cheques per annum.  If any member feels disadvantaged as a result, please contact me and I will try to resolve it.

Subscriptions 2026

A subscription reminder will be sent by email to all members at the beginning of December. Please do not send your subscription with your November lunch booking as it creates some accounting problems.
