CTL August Newsletter

Updated: Sep 1, 2021

Dear all

I know that some fortunate members have been to one or more ferias and I know a lot more are planning to go this month and in September/October when hopefully things will open up further. I hope you all have a good time.

AUGUST CLUB MEETING

As in previous years, we will not be holding a meeting with a speaker in August. We will instead be holding an informal get together in London, kindly arranged this year by Helen Windrath. The get-together will be on Thursday 12 August at 7.30 pm and will be held at El Pirata, 5-6 Down Street, London W1J 7AQ. The get-together will be in the form of a tapas supper (rather than just standing around in a bar) and for this reason we will need to book a table sufficient for those who wish to attend. If you wish to come please email Helen at helenwindrath@me.com no later than COB on Thursday 5 August.

Normal service will resume in September.

MIKE PENNING

I am sorry to report the sad news that Mike Penning died in Spain, peacefully, at home, on 30th July.

Mike was one of the longest serving members of the club. He was President of the Club for a number of years, and more recently held the post of Public Relations Officer.

The funeral will be held in Murcia next week. Members wishing to contact Mike’s wife Janice should write to: greenfingers1947@yahoo.co.uk

Editor of La Divisa Joe Ortiz hopes to include a tribute to Mike in a future edition of the magazine. He would particularly welcome anecdotes and reminiscences about Mike, to reach him if possible by 31st August. By all means contact him directly about this at j-ortiz@msn.com or 07950 062 177.

I am very sorry to pass on this sad news.

Best regards

Richard
