Dear Members,
I hope that you are enjoying the season wherever you have been or are due to go. I had a great week in Malaga catching up with members and consoling ourselves over Morante’s absence. The star of the show for me was David de Miranda whose ability and courage was outstanding.
New members
We welcome back to the club former member Andrew W. and new members Dr Michael & Maria I. and Mike & Vicky H. As ever please join me in welcoming them to our club whether on WhatsApp or at a plaza somewhere.
Next club meeting via Zoom - 11th September
We are delighted to announce Morgan Smith as the speaker at our next club meeting in September. Morgan, a freelance writer and photographer who lives in New Mexico, is the secretary of the National Association of Taurine Clubs (NATC) in the USA. He is also a CToL member who contributes regularly to La Divisa with his excellent articles and photography. Morgan will talk about his afición and the activities of the NATC. Given his physical proximity to Mexico, Morgan will also be able to give us his views and thoughts about the situation of La Fiesta Brava in that country.
He will be joined by some members of the NATC that are also members of the CToL so this should be an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with fellow aficionados from across the pond. The meeting will take place on 11th Septemberat 7:30pm BST, on Zoom - details to follow separately.

San Miguel Seville
As in previous years’ we intend holding an informal lunch at The Donald in Seville on Sunday 28th September. This restaurant is next door to the Hotel Colon and close walking distance to the Maestranza. It is always a most convivial lunch, usually outside, and we split the bill equally between all attendees. Mark Rayner will be organising this so please let him know nearer the time if you would like to attend - markctol@gmail.com. I will also be there so if you have any questions feel free to contact me.
CTL Autumn lunch in Madrid
The CTL’s autumn lunch in Madrid will be held this year at Casa Salvador (Calle Barbieri, 12) on Saturday 11th October at 1.30pm. Club members, partners and friends are all most welcome to join.
The price of the lunch will be approximately 50 euros, payable on the day. Please confirm your reservation(s) to Andrew Moore moore.ajg@gmail.com or by WhatsApp . Please indicate the number/names of your guests, and a contact telephone number for the days leading up to the lunch. If members or their friends have to cancel, please let Andrew know before noon on 9th October. Thereafter members will be responsible for payment of their reservations.
CTL VIP November lunch in London
We are delighted to announce that our guest of honour this year will be the matador BORJA JIMÉNEZ. As previously advised the lunch will be held as usual at The Oriental Club in London W1 on Sunday 30th November. We intend emailing the booking form to members in October, it promises to be the social highlight of our year when we will also be welcoming other people from the World of Bulls. We will be auctioning the photographic competition winners’ photos and holding our raffle (donations welcome).
